APE, or Albino Penis Envy, is a fully albino Psilocybe cubensis variety derived from the Penis Envy line.
The APE grow kit is distinguished by its lack of pigmentation, substantial fruiting bodies and a maturation pattern that differs from that of most classic cubensis varieties.

About APE (Albino Penis Envy)
The roots of APE lead back to Penis Envy, whose beginnings are commonly associated with material from the Amazon. According to the version most often repeated within the community, Richard Gutierrez isolated Penis Envy from a variety found there. Albino Penis Envy was later created by crossing the line with classic Albino PF. The resulting selection retained many Penis Envy characteristics while developing a fully albino and readily recognisable phenotype. This history is widely circulated but has not been documented in complete detail.
Morphology
Structure and appearance of APE
The fruiting bodies develop very thick, substantial stems and pale caps with characteristic blue-grey discolouration. During the early stages, the caps often remain almost spherical, while the line as a whole maintains a compact, heavy structure. Development is noticeably slower than in many classic Psilocybe cubensis varieties. Within the community, APE is commonly regarded as a potent line; some analyses have reported elevated alkaloid content, although results vary between samples and developmental conditions.

Development
Development profile of APE
APE does not release spores in the way typical of most cubensis varieties, so maturity is assessed primarily through changes in the fruiting bodies. Young tissue remains firm and compact. As development progresses, it becomes softer and more springy while preserving the line’s substantial shape. This change in consistency is one of the clearest maturity indicators and is more useful than waiting for visible spore deposits.
In short
Why choose APE?
The APE grow kit combines Penis Envy and Albino PF genetics in a fully albino Psilocybe cubensis line. Its substantial stems, pale blue-grey caps, slower development and texture-based maturity indicators create a clearly recognisable profile among Penis Envy-related varieties.
