Psilocybin in Tablets
Psychedelics, although the vast majority of them are legally banned in many countries, are attracting increasing scientific interest. This is due to the fact that, among other things, the number of people with mental disorders is increasing, and the pandemic has only exacerbated this condition. Ample evidence indicates that chemically or naturally obtained preparations, despite their impact on perception, including inducing hallucinations, can actually contribute to improving emotional and mental well-being, and therefore, increase quality of life, if used in conjunction with appropriate psychotherapy. Psilocybin is among them. Although it is usually associated with “magic mushrooms,” psilocybin in tablets is also becoming increasingly popular. But is this a good solution? You’ll find out below. Read this article now!
Psilocybin – what forms does it come in?
Let me first explain the forms psilocybin comes in. The most popular are naturally occurring psilocybin mushrooms, including the Psilocybe cubensis, which is probably already known worldwide, as well as several other species, including those found in Poland. Those who decide to take this substance consume them in the form of fresh or dried fruiting bodies. In the latter case, the concentration of psilocybin per 1g is much higher, as the water has simply evaporated from them. However, both forms are consumed orally.
Another way to take it is in powders made from dried fruiting bodies. However, they are rarely used raw. They are more often made into infusions. In this form, psilocybin enters the body by far the fastest. The fact that such a drink is often consumed with “grounds” only further accelerates absorption. A novelty is psilocybin in tablets. In these cases, the powder is taken raw, but enclosed in a soluble capsule.
What are the advantages of psilocybin tablets?
If someone decides to take psilocybin this way, its main advantage is the precise measurement of the amount. This allows, among other things, for uniform dosing depending on the individual’s needs. This is also the practice in many licensed laboratories that test the effects of this compound.Psilocybin tablets allow for the administration of the substance to test subjects in almost the same amount. This makes the research results more reliable.
Without a doubt, if such a drug were introduced to the market, taking it would be much more convenient than infusions or dried or fresh fruiting bodies. Simply swallowing a capsule provides the correct dose. Considering that gelatin casings can be purchased on auction sites, theoretically anyone could prepare such a batch. Then psilocybin in tablets remains nothing more than a powdered mushroom in a capsule.
Disadvantages of psilocybin in tablets
At this point, we should start with one thing first – even though scientists confirm the numerous beneficial effects of this substance, it remains illegal, including in Poland. Therefore, any psilocybin in tablets will not be legally available on the market, and possession of such preparations may result in criminal liability.
The fact is that if such a “medicine” were to appear for sale somewhere, it should be assumed that, on the one hand, it comes from an uncertain and most likely illegal source, and on the other, it is never certain whether it is actually psilocybin in tablets and whether the person selling it hasn’t added other substances that could be, for example, addictive.
Which is better to choose?
Basically, it’s… nothing. After all, as mentioned above, psilocybin is a banned substance in Poland, and possession of psilocybin mushrooms can result in up to 3 years in prison. Purchasing and possessing such capsules, however, could potentially be dealt with more severely. The substance itself is only used by appropriate research centers. However, the average person has the right to purchase a grow kit and, for example, decide to observe mycelium colonization without cultivating fruiting bodies, which is a real treat for amateur mycologists!
